"Country with an edge" This is the phrase John Denley loves to use most when asked about his unique musical approach. The charismatic native Bostonian is quick to point out that originality and innovation are the key ingredients of his fresh and exciting sound. "I love country music" says John with a gleam in his eye, "The storytelling, the vocal harmonies, classic instruments like steel guitars and fiddles… it all fits my voice and personality perfectly. But I also take influence from rock and many other types of music, so I try to incorporate those styles into my writing and singing. I have to confess, there's definitely a part of me that loves to stand out from the crowd" Standing out and doing things differently seems to come very easily to John, and he comes from a background as interesting and unique as the music he creates. Born in the suburbs just outside of Boston, MA, John found out early on that he had a gift for entertaining and captivating an audience. Trying to find his musical niche, he has spent the last 15 yrs active in the Boston music scene, while simultaneously making a living in one of the most unlikely professions imaginable. "I get paid to scare people" quips John with a telltale chuckle, "My company Boneyard Productions designs and builds classic 'Haunted Houses' and other scary attractions for theme parks and events worldwide. It's a strange business to be sure, but it has given me opportunities to do some pretty amazing things. We've done shows for Madison Square Garden which outgrossed Disney on Ice, recorded a Halloween CD with Alice Cooper, and we were responsible for bringing Halloween to Hong Kong with a huge event we created for their biggest theme park." Throughout it all however, John has remained steadfast in his dedication to his music and with his latest album, he believes he has finally found the sound he has been searching for. Recorded in the heart of Music Row in Nashville, John's newest and best release "From Nashville to Boston" boasts a veritable "who's who" of country music's most talented professionals. The lineup of musicians collaborating on this project include: David Hungate- who has recorded with Brooks and Dunn and Amy Grant; Larry Franklin- who has played fiddle for Faith Hill and Alan Jackson; and Danny Parks- who has laid ripping guitar tracks for Toby Keith and many others. With the release of the album also comes John's country music video debut. Shot on location in Boston by award winning producer/director David Fisher, the video for the title track "Nashville to Boston" captures both John's charismatic charm and the feeling of the song perfectly. Featuring international model and Miss America participant Tara Shae, the video has garnered rave reviews from fans and industry professionals alike. John is hard at work on his next album already. When asked about his forthcoming follow-up and what the future holds, John merely gives his trademark smirk and replies, "Just wait… I don't want to ruin the surprise!"
